THE ROLE

As Head Chef with PGL, you’ll be paid to lead a friendly and supportive catering team at Barton Hall, our stunning activity centre in Torquay. With no late nights and the opportunity of a Friday or Saturday evening off each week, this could be the perfect role to continue a rewarding career in catering without sacrificing your social life or that all important family time!

As Head Chef, you’ll be reporting to the Catering Manager, and be responsible for leading, managing, training and overseeing a team of Chefs & Catering Assistants to deliver a fantastic dining experience to our guests, including but not limited to:

  • Organising rotas, setting clear objectives for your team and identifying any training and development needs.
  • Developing a strong team ethos through motivating, inspiring and encouraging others in line with our PGL values.
  • Ensuring the catering team is following the correct procedures to maintain exemplary levels of food hygiene, health & safety and allergen requirements.
  • Managing financial aspects of the catering operation, including monitoring budgets, prices, forecasting and stock management

IS THIS YOU? 

  • Worked previously as a Chef or Head Chef in a mid-to-large scale dining environment
  • Has experience and understanding of food mass production
  • A confident leader of people with strong organisational and decision-making skills
  • Excellent knowledge of food hygiene & handling dietary requirements including allergies and intolerances
  • Level 3 Award in Food Safety is a bonus, but not essential.
